Cannot Connect to SecureClean Service There are a few reasons why you would receive this error when using SecureClean. Reason 1) The Windows service responsible for SecureClean shut down unexpectedly. To fix this on a Windows Vista / 7 machine, click. (Please let us know if the link is broken.) After starting or restarting the service, restart your computer and try running the software again. If this does not fix the issue, try uninstalling SecureClean, restarting your computer, then re-installing SecureClean. Reason 2) A separate program is interfering with your operating system's services. Even though you don't have to be connected for this service to run, it still runs like a normal 'service', where it uses your network settings to route back to Windows. This is just one of Windows' many quirks. To fix this, you will need to identify which program is preventing the service from running and temporarily shut it down. In most cases, the program is an anti-virus or other cleaning program. Disabling Windows Firewall temporarily may work as well. If you are nervous about taking down your firewall, you can disconnect from the internet entirely beforehand. This will not affect the SecureClean service and will prevent any viruses or malware from accessing your computer.
